Natural History Museum

The natural history museum of Alexandroupolis is situated in a picturesque and verdant location covered with plane trees just next to Maistros village - east of Alexandroupolis.

It is a modern and contemporary building, fully harmonized with the surrounding natural environment. The presence of the rich natural habitat along with the protected areas in the region led to the idea for its creation.

The need for the projection of this natural wealth to the local population and visitors led to the incorporation of the project "construction of the Natural History Museum” in the Urban Pilot Project of Alexandroupolis, as one of the chief aspects was the construction of the museum in its current form.

The choice of this particular location for the foundation of the museum, derived from the necessity to develop and enhance the eastern region of Alexandroupolis which was one of the main targets  of the pilot project.
